Still Echoes Resound- Background

Still Echoes Resound is a collection twelve miniature, mixed media, textile pieces rendered on leather and fragments of a childhood quilt. With both representational and abstracted elements, the work is reminiscent of body and landscape while maintaining an air of the ephemeral. Images of the tableaus are transformed into video form through a technique of overlay and repetition. The film is both a subtitled poem and audio narration—animating a text out of layers of drawing and embroidery, which retreat and surface to the rhythm of words.

With each passing day, through daily ritual, this series unfolded as a durational piece. Of the twelve original works, eleven survived. One hybrid human-bird, ventured into the city on its own, perhaps to continue its flight.
