Works in Progress 2021-2022
My work is a longing for that unretrievable something. Like sea glass that washes ashore in the ebbs and flows of the tide, life presents opportunities for meaning-making in countless ways.
A gift of embroidery floss from my grandmother transformed my practice. I take impressions of memory on the body, which are an undercurrent, a sweep, and knowing. I often repurpose fabric that has emotional significance so the form unfolds in meaning. The process is slow and layered as thread becomes more fluid like paint. Embroidering is a documentation of shapes of love and loss I hold. Words are the echoes.
